For years, we've been focused on one goal: making digital music creation feel more expressive.

That journey led us to develop MIDI guitar technology trusted by musicians around the world, helping bridge traditional performance with modern music production. Along the way, we realized something important:

The controller is only half the experience.

The instrument matters just as much.

That's why we built LOON.

Originally developed alongside our MIDI guitars, LOON quickly evolved into something much bigger—a software instrument designed for anyone who wants an inspiring, expressive, and approachable way to create sound. Whether you're using a MIDI keyboard, MIDI guitar, or another expressive controller, LOON was built to become an instrument you'll return to again and again.

One Instrument. Multiple Signal Paths.

At the heart of LOON is a three-layer, multitimbral architecture that makes it easy to build sophisticated sounds without sacrificing workflow.

Each layer contains its own complete signal path, combining synthesis, FM, sampling, advanced filtering, effects, and modulation. Build sounds in parallel, shape them independently, and blend them together into a single expressive instrument.

The result is an instrument that's just as comfortable creating everyday sounds as it is building complex textures and evolving soundscapes.

Designed to Stay Out of Your Way

Powerful software doesn't have to feel complicated.

LOON was designed to keep you creating.

Six assignable macros let you control multiple parameters across layers with a single movement, while full MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) support captures the nuance of every performance. Whether you're browsing presets or building sounds from scratch, the workflow stays focused on making music—not managing complexity.

Built for More Than One Kind of Musician

Although LOON began as a companion to our expressive MIDI guitars, we knew from the beginning it needed to stand on its own.

That's why LOON was designed for keyboardists, composers, producers, sound designers, and guitarists alike. The interface even includes both keyboard and fretboard visualizations—a reflection of our belief that expressive music creation shouldn't depend on a single type of controller.

No matter how you play, the goal is the same: make creating inspiring sounds feel immediate.

Why "LOON"?

If you've spent any time in Minnesota, you've probably heard the unmistakable call of the common loon.

As a Minnesota company, we wanted a name that reflected where LOON was created—but it became more than just a nod to our home state. The common loon is known for its many distinct vocalizations, and that felt like a fitting metaphor for an instrument built around layers, expression, and many different voices.

Much like the bird itself, LOON has many voices.

Whether you're building a simple piano patch, an evolving cinematic texture, or something entirely your own, we can't wait to hear what you create with it.
