Getting the Most Out of Xfer Record's Serum with your Jamstik Studio

Getting the Most Out of Xfer Record's Serum with your Jamstik Studio

September 01, 2022

Unlock the MPE-capabilities of the Studio MIDI Guitar with Serum from Xfer Records

Serum from Xfer Records is a powerhouse soft synth that has taken the industry by storm in recent years. Part of the reason people love it so much is because it’s easy to use, yet has deep functionality and customizability. These features make it a great companion for a wide variety of modern MIDI controllers, including the Jamstik Studio—which as I’m sure you know by now, is a native MPE controller.

Proper Setup with the Studio MIDI Guitar:

Let’s go over a couple of settings to tweak in order to make sure you’re getting the most out of these two instruments.

First, make sure your Jamstik Studio’s ‘MIDI Mode’ is set to MPE. You can do this a variety of ways—via the Creator app, either stand-alone or in your DAW, via the Jamstik Portal iOS app or online dashboard, or if you know you’re in ‘Single Channel’ mode, simply double-tap the power button on your Studio to switch to MPE.

How to Enable MPE in Serum

Next, open up Serum and click ‘Menu’ in the upper right of the plugin. Then, at the bottom, make sure MPE is enabled.

With those two settings checked, you should be good to go! Here's a little taste of what you have to look forward to pairing these two instruments together!
