Can I use a Jamstik MIDI guitar as a regular electric guitar?
Yes. Jamstik MIDI guitars are fully playable electric guitars with a standard 1/4-inch audio output for connecting to guitar amps, pedals, and audio interfaces.
You can use the traditional guitar signal on its own or combine it with MIDI to record or perform with guitar tones and virtual instruments at the same time.
Can Jamstik MIDI guitars control hardware synthesizers?
Yes. Jamstik MIDI guitars can control compatible hardware synthesizers, drum machines, and other MIDI gear using the TRS-MIDI output.
This allows you to play hardware MIDI instruments directly from the guitar without using a computer. A TRS-to-5-pin MIDI adapter may be required for hardware that uses traditional 5-pin MIDI connections.
What software and DAWs work with Jamstik MIDI guitars?
Jamstik MIDI guitars work with software and apps that accept MIDI input, including DAWs, virtual instruments, synthesizers, music notation and transcription software, and other MIDI-compatible music applications.
You can use a Jamstik with popular DAWs such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, Studio One, and FL Studio, as well as standalone virtual instruments and plugins. For more expressive control, Jamstik also supports MPE and can take advantage of MPE-compatible instruments and plugins.
How much latency do Jamstik MIDI guitars have?
Jamstik MIDI guitars typically achieve pitch-to-MIDI conversion in approximately 6–15 milliseconds, depending on the note, pitch, and playing conditions.
Jamstik uses onboard processing and a six-channel hexaphonic pickup to analyze each string independently, helping provide fast and responsive polyphonic MIDI tracking across the fretboard.
Do Jamstik MIDI guitars support MPE?
Yes. Jamstik MIDI guitars support MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) for expressive control of compatible software and hardware instruments.
MPE allows expressive information from individual notes to be handled independently, helping translate guitar techniques such as bends, slides, vibrato, and other performance gestures into expressive MIDI.
